Telecom veteran tasked with guiding the AI infrastructure company’s expansion strategy and power deployment initiatives.
Digi Power X Inc. (Digipower X) announced on Tuesday that Hans Vestberg, the former Chairman and CEO of Verizon Communications, has joined the company as a senior advisor. Vestberg will serve on the Advisory Board to assist the vertically integrated AI infrastructure firm in scaling its operations and strategic partnerships.
Vestberg brings over 30 years of executive experience in telecommunications and infrastructure. During his tenure at Verizon from 2018 to 2025, he oversaw the company’s initial 5G rollout and significant investments in fiber networks. Previously, he served as CEO of Ericsson, managing global infrastructure that supported approximately 35% of the world’s mobile traffic.
Digipower X, which focuses on deploying Tier-3 modular data centers supported by owned energy assets, aims to leverage Vestberg’s expertise to address current bottlenecks in the AI sector, specifically power availability and deployment speed.
Michel Amar, CEO of Digipower X, said regarding the appointment:
“Hans Vestberg built and scaled the physical infrastructure that helped enable the fiber, mobile, and 5G revolutions. He understands what most of the market overlooks: AI’s bottleneck isn’t algorithms or chips, it’s power, cooling, and deployment speed. Hans knows how to execute infrastructure transformation at a national and global scale.”
Vestberg currently serves on the boards of BlackRock and Verizon. In his new role, he will advise on scaling frameworks, distributed edge-compute architectures, and energy-efficient data center design.
